TREE MAINTENANCE - AFFORDABLE TREE CARE
Proper and regular maintenance of trees will help them thrive in your yard. More or less, a tree has a lifespan of 80 years, depending on its species. It can be fascinating how nature has its way of strengthening a tree once it has passed the first two crucial years of its life.
It is not recommended to overly care for your trees. We can only assist them with basic things but they have their own way of thriving and living with good health. Trees that are healthy can be those that receive regular maintenance and not too much of it. That is why it is important to know how we can care for them without going overboard.
Here are some maintenance programs that can help with the health of your trees.

Mulching
Mulching is a vital part of keeping your tree healthy because of the following reasons:
- Serves as insulation from varying temperatures. In the winter, it keeps the tree warm and prevents it from getting diseases. In the summer, it keeps its root healthy.
- Helps in storing water to keep the roots moist and the tree, healthy.
- Keeps possible competition away. Weeds can feed on the nutrients that your trees need. Mulch will help prevent that from happening.
- Protects roots from weed eater cords and lawn mower blades.
Watering
Learn how much water your trees need.
- Newly-planted trees: They require plenty of water to thrive. Water them for five minutes daily using a regular-sized hose at medium velocity.
- Trees in their first two years of growth: They still need lots of water to enable their root system to advance through the soil. At a medium velocity on the hose, water the plant for five minutes every day. Spread the water in a circular motion 2 to 4 inches from the trunk.
- Trees older than two years: This is the time when the tree already has matured roots that can hold itself and has been established in the ground. If there is no drought, nature can give the tree the proper nurture it needs. Watering is only required once in two weeks for 10 minutes in medium velocity on your hose.
Pruning
Pruning does a lot of good things to your trees, especially when you do it regularly. Pruning can be done for aesthetic purposes and as safety measures. Either way, pruning is a great tool in keeping your tree healthy. When pruning your tree, it is important to determine whether you will only do light pruning or remove live limbs and branches. Winter Pruning
This is what most experts in the tree business recommend. Do not prune your tree until it is the coldest part of the season has passed.
Summer Pruning
This is not really recommended and should only be done if deemed necessary. Pruning in summer can be done in late July or August. Remember not to prune your tree in spring because it is the budding season for trees. Also, pruning your tree in fall can invite fungus to spread through the tree.
